Sharing powerful stories from seniors, caregivers and their families.

Real Minnesotans. Real Stories.

Every senior in Minnesota deserves access to the housing and care they need to remain active in their home communities as they age. The caregivers who provide this care in nursing homes and assisted living facilities likewise deserve wages that reflect the essential and skilled nature of their work.

The Long-Term Care Imperative is committed to working with caregivers, care providers, and Minnesota legislators to find policy solutions that improve accessibility to care, caregiver wages and benefits, and the strength of the long-term care system in our state.

These are some of the seniors, family members and staff who are directly impacted by legislative change and support. Behind every policy and funding request to state leaders are the lives and stories of real Minnesotans — our seniors, family members and caregivers who are directly impacted by legislative decision making.

“You know, people of this age, including the Sisters of Carondelet, depend on Social Security and our investments to live. So to invest in senior care, there's no question. Absolutely no question. It's a huge need.”

“It's important for state leaders to invest in long term care because it is a fundamental right. Our senior population has put so much into each of us that it's only fair that we put it back into them.”

“I know there's a lot of asks from a lot of need organizations, but as the elderly population continues to grow, it's going to be more and more important that, you know, that portion of our population receives the care and assistance they need.”

“The state’s role in long-term care facilities is imperative. The financial assistance allows for programs like elderly waiver and the medical assistance program that are vital for my mother’s health and well-bing.”
